Policy for Acceptable Use of Computers and Networks

 

 

  1. Users shall not erase, rename, or make unusable anyone else’s computer files, programs or disks.

 

  1. Users shall not let other persons use their name, logon, password, or files for any reason (except for authorized staff members).

 

  1. Users shall not use or try to discover another user’s password.

 

  1. Users shall not use LPISD computers or networks for any non-instructional or non-administrative purpose (e.g. games, music, chat rooms, emails, social networks, on-line journals or blogs, activities for personal profit or the posting of personal information, pictures or videos of themselves or another without written permission).

 

  1. Users shall not use a computer for unlawful purposes, such as, but inclusive of, the illegal copying or installation of non-approved software, plagiarism or academic dishonesty.

 

  1. Users shall not copy, change or transfer any software documentation provided by LPISD, teachers, or another student without written permission from the campus technologist or other designated personnel so appointed by the Superintendent.

 

  1. Users shall not intentionally write, produce, generate copy, propagate, or attempt to introduce any computer code designed to self-replicate, damage, or otherwise hinder the performance of any computer’s memory, file system, or software.  Such software is often called a bug, virus, worm, Trojan horse, or similar name.

 

  1. Users shall not deliberately use the computer to annoy or harass others with language, images, or threats.

 

  1. Users shall not deliberately access or create any obscene or objectionable information, language, or images.

 

  1. Users shall not intentionally damage the system, damage information belonging to others, misuse system resources, or allow others to misuse system resources.

 

  1. Users shall not tamper with computers, networks, printers or other associated equipment.  Repair and trouble-shooting computer software, equipment and related peripherals by qualified personnel does not meet the standard of tampering, unless done maliciously.

 

  1. Users shall not take home technology equipment (hardware or software) without written permission of the campus technologist or other designated personnel so appointed by the Superintendent.

 

  1. Student use of Internet access is limited to the direct supervision of a teacher.  Staff use of the Internet is limited to the direction of the administration and must be for instructional, research or administrative purposes only. 

 

I, hereby, agree to abide by the above policy and accept full responsibility for any damages or disciplinary actions that I may incur because of failing to obey these district’s policies.
