Mrs. Thompson's and Mrs. Crutchfield's first graders have been diving into the story of Johnny Appleseed this week, and it’s been a bushel of fun! Through hands-on learning and apple-themed activities, students explored the life and legacy of this American folk hero. 🍎

👏 A huge congratulations to the following students whose designs were selected to compete: Bella Dejong, Hannah Felder, Skyla Pessink, Trystin Elrod, and Bella Hanks — your creativity and dedication truly bloomed! 🌻

Our elementary students took learning to the next level during our "Rock Your School" event, themed around National Parks! 🏞️
During their PE and STEAM time, students rotated through exciting stations that brought the beauty and wonder of America’s National Parks right into our school. From exploring wildlife and ecosystems to engaging in hands-on activities inspired by park adventures, our young learners were immersed in nature-based fun and discovery.
We’re so proud of their curiosity, energy, and enthusiasm — and grateful to our amazing teachers and staff who made this event unforgettable!

We’re bursting with pride over our students’ incredible success at the Henderson County Wildlife Committee Floral Design Competition this weekend! Out of five talented participants, three walked away with top honors—what a blooming achievement!
🏆 Grand Champion – Skyla Pessink
Awarded a $750 scholarship for her stunning floral artistry and creative excellence.
🥈 Reserve Grand Champion – Hannah Felder
Earned a $500 scholarship for her beautifully crafted design and impressive technique.
🎨 Most Creative – Bella Hanks
Recognized for her originality and imaginative flair that wowed the judges.
These students showcased not only their skills but also their passion and dedication. We’re so proud of their hard work and the way they represented our school. Let’s celebrate their success and cheer them on as they continue to grow and shine! 🌟

Big congratulations to our incredible runners who dominated the District Meet on Wednesday, October 8th! 🏃♀️
🥇 Peyton Hanks, senior, took 1st place overall!
🥉 Jaxton English placed 6th, and Tucker Jones came in 7th — all earning medals for their outstanding finishes!
🏆 The LaPoynor Varsity Boys are officially District Champs and advanced to the Regional Cross Country Meet in Huntsville, TX!
👏 On the girls' side, senior Emily White placed 5th, securing her spot at Regionals as well!

We’re incredibly proud of our junior high cross country runners for finishing the season strong and representing our school with grit and determination!
👏 Audree Kramer powered through the competition to earn an impressive 3rd place finish at the meet.
🥈 Case Shultz raced his way to an amazing 2nd place finish, showing true heart and hustle.
💪 Camden Swoyer and Ryder Boudreaux also had a great season, consistently pushing themselves and supporting their teammates every step of the way.

Today was a blast for our elementary students who earned a special reward for their hard work during the Big Kahuna fundraiser — a ride on the Party Bus! 🚨🎶
From music and dancing to smiles and laughter, this unforgettable experience was a well-deserved treat for those who went above and beyond in ticket sales. Their energy and enthusiasm lit up the day!

Today, our elementary students had the opportunity to learn about fire safety thanks to District 8 Fire and Rescue! 🚒
The presentation covered essential tips for staying safe during emergencies, and the best part? Students got hands-on experience:
✅ Spraying a real fire hose
✅ Exploring the inside of a fire truck
✅ Meeting local heroes who keep our community safe

Yesterday, our CTE Health Science students had the incredible opportunity to tour Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler before beginning their shadowing experience. This hands-on exposure is a vital step in their journey toward careers in healthcare, and we couldn’t be more proud of their dedication and enthusiasm!

Our secondary life skills students had a fantastic time exploring the Union Hill Pumpkin Patch this week! 🌾🍂 From picking pumpkins to enjoying hayrides and fall-themed activities, the day was filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories.
